Program Information > Panel Sessions Panel Sessions “Standards Evolutions for Advancing SDR Technologies in Mainstream Markets” The ultimate vision for SDR technology is to reduce costs while providing end-users with access to ubiquitous wireless communications: enabling them to communicate with whomever they need, whenever they need to and in whatever manner is appropriate. As SDR and related technologies permeate the advance wireless market, the role of standards becomes increasingly important in enabling this vision by enhancing the interoperability of relevant technologies and driving economies of scale. Several organizations are involved in standards activities related to SDR technologies, including the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA), The Object Management Group (OMG), and the SDR Forum. This panel will explore the role of each of these organizations in evolving standards supporting the SDR community and identify potential areas for future collaboration as these technologies advance within the mainstream market. Featuring panelists:
Moderated and with an introduction by SDR Forum CEO, Lee Pucker “What Should the Incoming US Administration Do To Promote The Success of Next Generation Radio Technology” US citizens will elect a new President the week after the SDR Forum Technical Conference. This panel discussion will focus on concrete steps the incoming Administration can take to help various communities of interest (military, public safety, household consumers) maximize the potential benefit of innovation in SDR and cognitive radio. Areas to be addressed include communications regulation, research funding, large system procurements, and positions in international organizations such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
This panel will be moderated by Lee Pucker, CEO of the SDR Forum. "Requirements for Test and Certification of SDR Technologies" The goal of this session is to allow radio manufacturers to discuss the test and certification issues they have found in working with technology driven features such as multimode operation, dynamic spectrum access, opportunistic scheduling, and policy based operation. Hosted by the SDR Forum’s Test and Measurement Task Group, this panel will provide an outstanding opportunity for radio vendors to explore common requirements for equipment and standards that could reduce their future test and measurement costs.
